Buyer Policy

1. Understanding Our Town's Limitations as a Marketplace

Our Town provides a marketplace for buyers to discover and purchase from Sellers around the US. By shopping on Our Town, you understand and agree that:

  • You are not buying directly from Our Town, but from one of the many Sellers on Our Town;
  • Our Town does not pre-screen items sold on Our Town and therefore does not guarantee or endorse any items sold on Our Town or any content posted by Sellers (such as photographs, language used in listings or shop policies);
  • Each Seller on Our Town has their own processing times, shipping methods, and shop policies; and
  • You assume responsibility if you provide your own materials for a custom order or shipping.

2. Communicating with Our Town Sellers

You can contact the Seller directly if you have questions about a product or there is an issue with an order. This should be done as soon as you receive the product. You can contact Our Town directly if you have any issues with a Seller. However, you may not engage in any of the following activities:

  • Sending unsolicited advertising or promotions, requests for donations, or spam;
  • Harassing or abusing a Seller or otherwise violating our Anti-Discrimination Policy;
  • Contacting someone after they have explicitly asked you not to;
  • Interfering with a transaction or the business of a Seller; or
  • Exchanging personal contact, financial or other information for the purposes of evading the checkout process on Our Town, including phone number, address, email, social media handles, external URLs, instructions for money transfer, etc.

Always use caution when exchanging any personal information which is not strictly necessary for the completion of a transaction.

3. Purchasing an Item on Our Town

When you buy from a shop on Our Town, you're directly supporting an independent business, each with its unique listings, policies, and processing times. By making a purchase from a Seller on Our Town, you agree that you have:

  • Read the item description and shop policies before making a purchase;
  • Submit appropriate payment for item(s) purchased;
  • Provided accurate shipping or in store pickup information to the Seller.
  • Consider that small businesses cannot afford to have many returned items.

When purchasing from Sellers using Our Town, buyers may authorize a payment with any major credit or debit card accepted by Our Town. If Our Town accepts a third-party service provider, you may also be subject to an agreement with the third party. For example, PayPal is a third-party service provided by PayPal Holdings, Inc. and your use of PayPal is subject to the PayPal User Agreement. Apple Pay is provided by Apple Inc., and Google Pay is provided by Google Payment Corp., and their usage is subject to their respective terms.

When purchasing from Sellers who use PayPal only, buyers may pay through PayPal only. Our Town may share your personal or transactional information with those third-party service providers for purposes related to payments processing. If there are insufficient funds in your bank account when our provider processes the payment, or the payment is cancelled for any reason, Our Town reserves the right to contact you directly to seek payment.

4. Leaving a Review of an Item

Once the Our Town Marketplace is able to accept product reviews, you may leave a review for your Seller or purchased item. Reviews help other buyers make informed decisions and help Sellers build their reputation.

  • Contains obscene language or hate speech;
  • Contains things that are outside the Seller's control, such as a shipping carrier, Our Town, or a third party;
  • Undermines the integrity of the reviews system;
  • Contains threats, harassment, extortion, or violates our rules about interference;
  • Is false, deceptive, or misleading;
  • Contains unsolicited advertising or promotions, requests for donations, or spam;
  • Contains private information, whether it is your own or someone else's;
  • Encourages or facilitates a transaction that evades the Our Town checkout process.

Sellers may also respond to reviews. Responses must comply with this policy. Sellers may report reviews that violate our Terms of Use. We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate our policies or Terms of Use.

Return & Refund Policy

Generally, all items sold on Our Town Marketplace are non-returnable, although Sellers may allow returns for up to two weeks (if applicable). Refunds only apply to the Seller's received amount and do not include donations to Causes, platform service fees, or credit card processing fees.

If you experience an order issue, contact the Seller via the Our Town Marketplace first. Sellers must be given 48 hours to attempt resolution. If unresolved, contact Our Town at info@ourtown.store. If Our Town determines the issue is not resolved adequately, the Seller may be required to refund the order amount listed above, including original and return shipping.

Some exclusions apply. Eligibility is determined at Our Town's discretion. Buyers must have an account in good standing. Abuse of this program may result in exclusion. Certain items are not returnable, including but not limited to: programmable items, food items, software, hazardous items, and some health and personal care products.

Requesting a Cancellation

Only Sellers may cancel transactions. Buyers may request that a Seller cancel an order via the Our Town Marketplace. All cancellations must comply with our Anti-Discrimination Policy.
